April Traffic Report


April was another break out month for Manatee Pocket Yacht Sales.

We closed the sale of 9 boats with many more in the pipeline. It’s a great start to the second quarter of the calendar year, what has been our best quarter for two years running.

If you have been receiving our traffic report for more than a few months, I’m sure you will be glad when your boat sells and there’s one less e-mail in your Inbox. Rest assured, we are doing everything we know to sell your boat.

Our 46' Silverton listing was located on a large freshwater lake in Georgia. We met the owner when we sold a 44' Sea Ray also on the lake but owned by a Stuart, FL resident. It took 11 months, a few price reductions and also two offers. The first offer was terminated when the haul out showed the blisters her owner had paid a company to repair had not been repaired properly. Fast-forward a month, after proper completion of the repair by the original company and a second offer was received. The deal finally concluded without delay. Once the boat was priced right more interest developed.

Recently we had a 27' Aquasport Walk Around listed with twin Yamaha 225 hp Four Strokes. An offer was received and sea trial and survey conducted. The Yamaha mechanic determined during the survey that extensive engine repair was required to correct the mid-section problems prevalent with 2003 and 2004 Yamaha 225's. The seller did not expect this as the engines had checked out fine a few years ago. Jim, our broker was able to keep both the buyer and seller as satisfied customers.

Just a short note to let you know how much I appreciated the effort Jim McNamee and your staff made in the process of selling my Aquasport Coastal 27. Although we had a few bumps in the road we stayed the course and finished the race. Jim always kept me abreast of what was going on and was great in staying with the problems and keeping the buyer interested as we got everything up to par. Being able to keep my boat at your Manatee Pocket location was great exposure and very convenient.

We listed a 48' Morgan last year only to find out the engine needed to be replaced. There was a lot of discussion on how best to proceed. Selling her "as is" would only attract low offers, but would it really be worth it for the seller to pay for a new installation? Along with the seller, it was decided to proceed with the work but to take her off the market until all work was completed. After completion and a few price decreases, an acceptable offer was received and the deal finalized. In the end, the owner sold his boat and was satisfied. It does not appear that the new engine brought him more money but it certainly did attract a qualified buyer.

Just wanted to thank you and Bill again for the GREAT job you did selling our beloved sailboat, Blown Away. Selling a big boat can be a frustrating, emotional experience and you both seemed to ease our journey through the process. The new owners are perfect for the boat and will no doubt enjoy many years living their dream just as we did.
