Groundbreaking ceremony for Witham Customs
My friends and fellow Customs supporters:
Do I have some OUTSTANDING news to share with you:
At 9 a.m., Aug. 23, at the Witham Airport office, 2011 S.E. Airport Road, Stuart, we are going to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Customs facility!
I cannot tell you how happy I am to send you this invite. Citizens like yourself made this moment possible through your persistence, your patience, and your unyielding understanding that a local Customs facility simply made good sense.
This important community amenity will benefit local boaters, tourism, aviation, and small businesses. The inconveniences of clearing Customs in Fort Pierce or West Palm when returning from the Bahamas or any other international ports of call will be a thing of the past. When this facility comes online, we can return straight home and clear conveniently for a minimal fee.
For years, we fought together to make this a reality. Even when the former Martin County Commission majority put us through seven separate hearings, hundreds of you turned out to express your support. The various denials were frustrating, but we were never demoralized. Finally and fortunately, our current county commission majority heard our collective voice and delivered what a broad mass of citizens have long asked for. When you get a chance, drop them an email and let them know your gratitude:
Commission Chair Doug Smith - email@example.com
Commission Vice Chair Ed Ciampi - firstname.lastname@example.org
Commissioner Harold Jenkins - email@example.com
Please attend this important groundbreaking. And bring your friends! Let’s make it the biggest groundbreaking Martin County has ever seen. Please RSVP by Aug. 21 at 221-1458.
