We are very busy at Manatee Pocket Yacht Sales with showings, sea trials, Stuart Boat Show preparations and adding many more listings.
With six boats under contract and two boats closed in November, we are also thankful for several new listings that are coming our way.
Fresh listings bring new eyes and possibly even new prospects for our existing inventory.
Two of our boats in the closing process have been with us for over a year. That is not unusual in this business as some particular boats just need to wait patiently for their buyer. Even continued reductions in price do not seem to help...until it does. These two boats required time on the market and price.
We interview all our buyers and with rare exception, we hear they were watching the boat and especially the price. Sometimes they call before the price gets to their “budget” thinking if they don’t call someone else might beat them to it.
Most often, buyers call with the thought they can get “a deal.” I believe, sadly, the buyer today is as interested in the deal he can tell his neighbor he got as the boat he bought.
Yes, we have sold boats the first day they were listed. That is why we tend to set the initial listing price higher than indicated by Sold Boats data. Typically, it takes three to six months to sell a boat if she is in above average condition and there are no mishaps on the sea trial.
