Lee’s interest in boating began at summer camp in the Adirondack Mountains of New York on Lake George. He purchased his first boat in May of 1982 and has been hooked ever since. He is a NAUI Dive Master and is certified for Cave Diving and Normoxic Trimix. His diving and boating interests have taken him all over the Caribbean, the northern lakes, and as far west as Utah’s Lake Powel. During his tenure as the Managing Director of The Sagamore Resort, Lee teamed up with Steven Colgate to open the first Colgate Sailing School on Lake George in the Adirondacks.
Lee moved to Vero Beach in May of 2016, attended classes at the Chapman’s School of Seamanship and obtained his 25 Ton Master Captain's License. Lee purchased his Boston Whaler 28 through Manatee Pocket Yacht Sales and decided to become a member of the team.
Since then, Lee has become a member of Indian River Sheriff's Department - Marine Division and runs one of the patrol boats. He is also Fleet Captain and Board Member for the Vero Beach Yacht Club.
He lives in Vero with 1st Mate Mary Stuart Tilt and their three dogs! They both enjoy diving and shooting sporting clays!

I listed our 33 foot trawler with Lee Bowden of Manatee Pocket Yacht Sales. I was very pleased with Lee’s service. He was always enthusiastic about the boat and worked hard to make sure that I got a fair price. One of the many things I liked about Lee was the fact that he often included me in the sales process. I knew the boat very well and Lee understood and appreciated that. I participated in many of the showings. I believed that helped us sell the boat as buyers often have questions that only the owner can answer. Ultimately, Lee was able to sell the boat for close to the asking pricing (after we made a few price adjustments during the listing period). The closing went well and I believe the buyer is very happy with his new boat. During the listing period, Manatee Pocket provided me with a monthly report of activity on my listing. I really appreciated that report and was able to use it, along with Lee's advice, to adjust the price as needed to generate the level of interest I wanted. It is worth noting, however, that the buyer did not come from an internet listing. Rather, the buyer walked into the Manatee Pocket office where he met Lee’s colleague, Tom Whittington, who owns the brokerage. After interviewing the prospective buyer, Tom determined that the gentleman would probably like my boat. Tom referred hime to Lee who showed him the boat and ultimately negotiated the sale. I really appreciated the fact that Tom took the time to learn about my boat even though it was Lee’s listing. They worked together well, giving me the sense that I had a team working on my behalf.
